Last weekend, the St. Pete Beach Community Center had its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday evening, followed by a day of fun family activities on Saturday. The festivities included an open house at the new 11,000-square-foot Community Center building, free access to the pool and kids activity area, an evening concert at the waterfront park and the debut of the Saturday Market Place, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The pool was a hit with the kids, and although the market was lacking in produce and refreshments, those items are promised for next Saturday.
