Raise adoption awareness, be an angel

U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite is accepting applications for the 2007 Angels in Adoption campaign. Nominees must be residents of the 5th Congressional District, which includes Hernando County, and must be received by July 31 at Brown-Waite's office in Room 200 of the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., Brooksville. The winner will be invited to attend the Angels in Adoption gala Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C. The winner will be responsible for airfare and accommodations. The Angels in Adoption campaign, hosted by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, is a national movement to raise awareness about adoption and related issues. Hear idea for a national sales tax
A FairTax event will be at 4:30 p.m. today at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 10470 Spring Hill Drive. The master of ceremonies will be WWJB-AM 1450 radio host Bob Haa. The speaker will be Tom Wright, executive director of FairTax.org. The FairTax plan calls for replacing income and payroll taxes with a national sales tax. Admission is free, but seating is limited. 'Cow Appreciation Dinner' planned
New Hope United Methodist Church will host a "Cow Appreciation Dinner" at 6 p.m. July 21 at the church, 12725 S Istachatta Road off Lake Lindsey Road, north of Istachatta. To show appreciation to cows, no beef will be served. The dinner will feature fish, pork and chicken dishes. There will also be an assortment of homemade side dishes and desserts.
