TAMPA - It hasn't taken Pdh Odd Scotty long to make his mark at Tampa Greyhound Track, proving he is one of the stars of the Tri-Star Kennel.
The Daytona Beach invader recorded his first career stakes win in the Tampa Inaugural on July 7 and has won his past two starts for owner Paul Hartwell of Portland, Ore.
"Scotty competed with the best at Daytona Beach, but the track wasn't fast enough for him," Tri-Star owner/trainer Charles Newcome said. "(Tampa) is a great racing surface that suits him better."
At Daytona Beach, Pdh Odd Scotty won 10 of 43 races. He has three wins and a second-place finish in four starts at Tampa, all at 550 yards. His best time is 30.84 seconds.
A 26-month-old white fawn male out of a litter by Jimbo Scotty and Toms Trouble, Pdh Odd Scotty was among a litter of pups Newcome received from Hartwell. The 73-pound speedster captured the Tampa Inaugural by holding off Flying Bowling for a half-length victory at 6-1 odds.
"You'll see him a lot at Tampa unless there's a stakes out there for him," Newcome said. "We'll take things one day at a time with him."
