Palma Ceia/Interbay wins sectional

Palma Ceia/Interbay dominated the Little League Section VII 9-10 softball tournament, going 3-0 and outscoring opponents 53-6. With the title already in hand before Sunday's game, PC/IB won 10-0 over Seminole. PC/IB's pitchers - Kasey Wishart, Megan Przeslawski and Katie Weachter - combined for a no-hitter. Przeslawski also had a two-run triple. MAJOR SOFTBALL: Palma Ceia/Interbay/Tampa Bay defeated Pinellas Park/Cross Bayou/Gulf Beaches 11-1 Sunday to go 3-0 in section play. Pitchers Ashley Cozart and Caroline Ellis each had five strikeouts. Megan Murphy was 2-for-3 with one RBI and scored three runs. SECTION IV: New Tampa won the 9-10 baseball title, defeating Haines City 4-3 Sunday. Hunter Van Horn pitched 42/3 innings, with Jordan Ramus earning the save. Ramus, Van Horn, Greg Aiello and Tyler Coringrato each had one RBI. PONY BASEBALL: Forrest Hills won its opening game in the double-elimination regional tournament in Newnan, Ga., beating Bill Arp (Douglasville, Ga.) 11-0 in five innings. Brandon Pearl pitched three innings and struck out five for the win. T.R. Bopp led the team with two doubles and a single. Forrest Hills' next game is Wednesday.
