Victims of Monday's crash identified
By TIMES WIRES

LAKELAND - A different Amtrak train on the same route struck a car in Lakeland on Monday at about the same time as Tuesday's crash, killing four people in the car. The car's driver ignored flashing lights at a railroad crossing on Wabash Avenue and drove around a cross-arm that was in the down position, according to witnesses and a surveillance camera at the nearby Publix complex. The victims were identified Tuesday as Cecerra Lee Benafield, 20, Brian Preston Guy, 22, Whitney Pressnell, 20, and Brittany Nichole Stickney, 18. All were from Lakeland, police said. The train had been headed for New York with 161 passengers. None were injured, and the train continued on about two hours later. It had stopped in Tampa.

Just because the driver of the car choose to go around doesn't mean that the other 3 people in the car wanted them to.

Ok I am sorry for the loss of these young people, but the driver drove around the down arm of a railroad crossing and ignored flashing lights? What do you expect...that was a very stupid thing to have done and they paid for it with their lives.
