Post-disco music fest will make '80s live at Ford Amphitheatre

Before techno had glow sticks and long after disco died, there was the perfected mold of keytar and drum beats that ruled the '80s. So bust out the leg warmers and acid-washed jeans, it's time to turn back the clock and dance like it's 1989.

The '80s Classic Summer Jam is here.

Here's a little trivia question: Who debuted in 1987 at No. 5 on the Billboard chart with the hit The Point of No Return?

If you guessed Expose, you're correct. The group performs at the Ford Amphitheatre tonight, along with 10 other bands from the '80s, including Lisa Lisa, C&C Music Factory and Soul Sonic Force.

Presented by WILD 98.7 and Q105, the '80s Summer Jam also will feature special guest comedian Mike Robles, former executive producer of Que Locos and the Loco Comedy Jam. An Emmy Award-winner for his show Video Mix, Robles is the creator and former star of Latin Palooza.

All ages are welcome. Doors open at 6 p.m.; shows start at 7 p.m. at the Ford Amphitheatre, 4802 U.S. 301, Tampa. Regular tickets start at $15 and VIP tickets at $65. Call Ticketmaster at 287-8844.

An after party will be at Floyd's Bar at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The after party is for ages 21 and up. To reserve a VIP area, call 627-7676.
