SEMINOLE Developer hopes to sell remaining housing units A Fort Lauderdale developer is offering 18 units for sale in the Boca Ciega Resort and Marina, the unsold remainder of the $22-million project completed in February 2006. Early on, sales were strong on the 81-unit building at 8800 Bay Pines Blvd., but once competing condo-hotels started being proposed, more buyers opted for a deposit on a future development than a hard sale, said Ed Jackson, who was representing developer Pinnacle Construction. Pinnacle hasn't been able to unload these last 18 one-bedroom units. It's listing them collectively for $6-million but will sell each individually for about $350,000. BAY AREA Marketing group lauded for its growth The Tampa Bay chapter of the American Marketing Association received an award this month from the parent AMA as the fastest-growing group in the country. The group reports an overall membership increase of nearly 70 percent for the year ending June 30, which it attributes largely to monthly speaker series luncheons from representatives of national brands, including Chick-fil-A, AAA Auto Club South and most recently, JetBlue. Membership is 280, but the group expects to break 300 by the end of the year. ST. PETERSBURG Grand Central Stroll set for Friday night The Grand Central District will hold its annual Grand Central Stroll from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday on Central Avenue between 20th and 30th streets. The event includes late shopping, and live music at Gillie's Bar-B-Que, Beak's Old Florida and Studio XP, and an 8:30 p.m. showing of the movie Snow Dogs.
