Mustangs find coach; Rebels in hunt for one
By JOE SMITH
Published July 27, 2007
The county's basketball coaching carousel has nearly run its course.
Northside Christian recently named David Madasz, a former Mustangs girls basketball coach and Eckerd assistant, its boys basketball coach.
That capped an unusually busy offseason with five programs changing head coaches. It soon was made six, as Dixie Hollins assistant principal Deb Fabrizio announced the Rebels needed a coach to replace Louis Rowe, who is leaving to pursue a college coaching position.
Rowe, who declined to comment on his new job until it is official, said he felt "blessed" Dixie gave him a chance a year ago and lauded the school's administration; he wasn't looking for a new job, instead "it came to me."
The former Lakewood standout played at Florida and James Madison before spending 10 years overseas.
To inquire about the Rebels opening, call Fabrizio at 727 547-7876, or fax a resume to (727) 547-7727.
