GAINESVILLE - A teenager who needed 900 stitches after her family's pit bullterrier attacked her is recovering at home. Amanda Boyles, 19, of Interlachen suffered facial lacerations and a damaged artery that required surgery after the dog lunged at her face while they were playing Thursday. Deputies said Boyles' father, Felton, pried the dog off his daughter as it shook her head back and forth in its grip. Putnam sheriff's Capt. Steve Rose said he was told the young woman needed as many as three layers of stitches in places where the lacerations were deep. According to the incident report, Felton Boyles said his daughter had injuries to both sides of her face near her mouth and chin. The 2-year-old white pit bull, named Boss Hog, was euthanized Friday and sent to the Health Department to be tested for possible rabies, Rose said.

And yet people still buy these monsterous mutts! "Oh! But MINE will be a good doggie!" Right! Pit bull owners should be required to carry at least one million in liability insurance.
