A comeback for Holy Land

Salvation works, at least when it comes to the Holy Land Experience, a Biblical theme park in Orlando. Ticket sales are reportedly up 25 percent since June, when the Trinity Broadcasting Network took over the financially troubled park's $8-million mortgage.

Trinity, a California-based Christian network with more than 12,500 television and cable affiliates worldwide, described the takeover as a "marriage" of the two nonprofits. Founded in 1973, Trinity Broadcasting may be best known for its flagship production, "Praise the Lord." It also runs Trinity Music City USA in Nashville. ¶ "The Holy Land Experience could well be considered Orlando's most inspiring destination as visitors experience a full day of discovery that takes them 2,000 years back in time to the world of the Bible," the network said. ¶ Billed less as a theme park than a ministry, "The mission of The Holy Land Experience is to bring the Bible to life for everyone who comes through our gates," Holy Land Experience president Tom Powell said recently.
