Register for boys and girls club today
The Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County will have orientation and registration for its 2007-08 before- and after-school programs for youths ages 5 to 17 at 6 p.m. today in the club's gymnasium, 5404 Applegate Drive. Parent or guardian attendance is mandatory. A nonrefundable registration fee of $25 per family is required when the registration form is submitted. Before-school program fees are $20 per week or $5 per day, per child. After-school program fees are $30 per week or $7.50 per day, per child. For both programs, the fees are $40 per week or $10 per day, per child. Busing is available from some schools. Call Terry or Yvonne at 666-0068.
Scuba lessons start next week
The Hernando County Family YMCA offers scuba lessons monthly. The next course starts Aug. 7 at the YMCA at 1300 Mariner Blvd. The course includes six classes and pool sessions, meeting from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Lessons are open to adults and youths 12 and older. The cost is $180, which includes use of scuba equipment. Participants must bring their own personal equipment, such as a mask, fins and snorkel. Have a mower to get rid of?
The Arc Nature Coast is in need of a mower to go with its tractor. Anyone who can donate a mower is asked to contact Nancy Stubbs at 544-2322, ext. 109. The Arc is a nonprofit organization that provides support and services to developmentally disabled Hernando County residents and their families. The campus is at 5283 Neff Lake Road, east of Brooksville.
