HOLIDAY When Barbara Compton called Duraclean and Kirsch Services last month to have repairs done in her bathroom, she got more than she bargained for. A report from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said the plumber cleaned out Compton's jewelry box too.
Compton told deputies she spotted the plumber, Danielle Heath, standing in the bedroom, where the jewelry was, instead of in the bathroom, where the repairs needed to be done.
When Heath left, Compton told deputies she discovered about $4,500 in jewelry was missing, including a ring, a Geneva watch, a necklace and bracelet set and a heart necklace and bracelet set.
Deputies found the Geneva watch and one of the necklaces at pawn shops, and Compton, 85, identified the items as hers. According to the report, Heath, 27, admitted she stole the items. She was charged with grand theft and is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail at the Land O'Lakes jail.
