Embroidery stitch-ins: The Embroiders Guild of America, Gulfview Chapter has stitch-ins scheduled for noon Aug. 8 and 15 at the Lakeside Club, 12606 Shadow Ridge Blvd., Hudson. Bring a sack lunch and your favorite project. Beginner to advanced stitchers are welcome. Satellite groups will also meet 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 7 and 14 at the Country Place Clubhouse, 2535 Country Place Blvd., Trinity; and at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at Hudson Regional Library, 8012 Library Road, Hudson.

A bounty for Hospice: The Save Our Sandbar group is hosting "Pirates for the Care-of-Being" fundraiser from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Gulf Harbors Yacht Club, 3926 Marine Parkway, New Port Richey. The event will benefit Gulfside Regional Hospice. The ticket includes a pig roast, a three-hour open bar, treasure hunt, silent auction, costume contest and live music. Safe Boating Program: The Hudson Flotilla 11-7 U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will host a six-hour boating course starting at 9 a.m. Aug. 11 in the conference center for Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, on Yosemite Drive behind the hospital. The course will address boat handling, weather, charts, and more. There is no fee for the instruction. There is a $35 fee for a textbook, CD-ROM, certificate and wallet card. Additional family members may attend for $10 each, but they will not get their own book or CD-ROM. Many insurance companies give discounts on boat insurance for boaters who complete this course.
