GULFPORT - The Little League Southeast Regional got off to a rousing start Saturday, with a host of long balls and three of the four games decided by one run at Arnold S. White Stadium.

Trey Burks homered and drove in the winning run as Tennessee held off a furious South Carolina rally to win 7-6. With two outs, Ryan Lawson on third and down to his final strike, Burks drove an outside fastball to the fence in rightfield. The ball fell just out of the South Carolina outfielder's reach, scoring Lawson to end it. Burks, who finished 2-for-3, also hit a two-run homer in the third.

"I just sat back and waited on the curveball," Burks said of his third postseason home run. "I knew it was gone as soon as I hit it."

Tennessee held a 6-1 fifth-inning lead, but South Carolina scored two in the fifth and three in the sixth to tie the game. Cam Gilreath and Jake Spence had two hits apiece for South Carolina while Tennessee's Brad Roepke went 3-for-3.

GEORGIA 7, ALABAMA 6: Alabama overcame a four-run deficit but Georgia rallied for two runs in the sixth for the win. Trailing by a run in the final inning, Georgia's Hunter Jackson singled and was driven in by Micah Wells. Georgia loaded the bases with two outs and Clint Wynn was hit with a pitch to force in the winning run.

Alabama had the tying and go-ahead run on base with two outs in the sixth, but Dalton Carriker, who earned the win in relief, got a groundout to end the game.

VA. 7, WEST VIRGINIA 6: Virginia was blanked in the first inning but scored in every one the rest of the way out. Six of Virginia's runs were scored by error, wild pitch or passed ball and it won despite committing five errors.

Virginia's Danny Russell finished with two hits, Brian Baumgartner earned the win and Michael Kann picked up the save. Alan Mochabee and Evan Woolum had three hits apiece, accounting for six of West Virginia's eight hits.

FLORIDA 9, N.C. 3: Florida scored three in the first and never looked back. Cheyne Bickel fanned eight in six innings for the win, walking none. Pat Pinak and Bradley Emery had a pair of hits each for Florida while Cameron Snow and Andrew Toney collected two each for North Carolina.
