Commercial projects code review meeting

BROOKSVILLE
The Hernando County Division of Development has scheduled a code compliance review of commercial projects submitted to the division for permitting. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 16 at the Hernando County Engineering Department, 1525 E Jefferson St. Each project will be scheduled for 30 minutes and include the Hernando Airport Substation, 9 a.m.; Omaha Circle Condominiums, 9:30 a.m.; Shoppes of Spring Hill Phases II and III, 10 a.m.; remodeling of Victoria's Steak House, 10:30 a.m.; and interior build-out of Great Beginnings II Preschool, 11 a.m. Comments for the meeting must be submitted by Thursday. Register kids for afterschool fun
The city of Brooksville Parks and Recreation Department is taking registrations for the After Care 4 Kids program at the Jerome Brown Community Center, 99 Jerome Brown Place, off Darby Lane, starting Aug. 20. The program will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on school days and is for students in first through eighth grades, ages 6 to 14. The cost is $50 per week, per child. Activities include board and computer games, movies, foosball, air hockey and more. Snacks will be provided. Free transportation will be provided for city of Brooksville residents at designated pickup areas. Call 544-5498.

Donate items to annual Fur Ball
Sponsorships and donations of auction items are needed for the Humane Society of the Nature Coast's fourth annual Fur Ball, which will be Sept. 29 at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court. The event will include a cocktail hour and cash bar, buffet dinner, dessert, silent auction and music for dancing. Tickets are $75 per person.
