Judge says Garden World must pay
By TIMES STAFF

LAND O'LAKES A Pasco County agricultural dealer has been ordered to pay more than $97,000 to a Miami nursery for tropical foliage it received but did not pay for, the Department of Agriculture announced Friday. The news release says Garden World of Holiday Inc., in Land O'Lakes, did not pay for the foliage it bought from Sturon Inc. in 2005 and 2006. Sturon filed a claim with the Department of Agriculture, and the case ended up before an administrative judge, who ruled in Sturon's favor. Under state law, any business wanting a license to purchase produce in Florida and sell it at retail must post a security. If Garden World cannot pay the $97,444, the state can draw on that security to pay Sturon.
