Bike, golf and help build habitat hamoes

Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County is seeking potential organizers, participants, sponsors and volunteers for two fundraising events: a bike-a-thon planned for October or November and a golf-a-thon in February or March. Dates have not been determined. Proceeds will go toward providing decent, affordable housing for low-income families. Bike-a-thon information and entry forms are available on the Web at www.habitathernando.org, or by calling Bob Jillings at 397-3635.

Teachers, come eat, get a 'tool kit'
Hernando County teachers and support staff are invited to a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 13300 Cortez Blvd. Teachers will receive a free "Teacher's Tool Kit," which includes samples from Crayola, Mead, 3M, Post-It, Kleenex, Scotch, Germ-X, Elmer's, Bic, Prang, Exp and Wal-Mart. Vacancies exist within boards
There is a vacancy on the Hernando County Historical Advisory Commission for a Hernando Historical Museum Association representative. There are also vacancies on the Enterprise Zone Development Agency Advisory Board. All applicants must be Hernando County residents and registered voters. Applications available in the County Administrator's Office, 20 N Main St., Brooksville, and must be returned before 5 p.m. Friday . All positions are voluntary. Call 754-4002
Feeling crafty? Come join club
The Monday Craft Club is looking for new members. The group meets from noon to 3 p.m. Mondays at the Weeki Wachee Senior Citizen Club, 3357 Susan Drive, off Toucan Trail. Members work on a variety of crafts and share their expertise. Call Helen at 597-1538.

Two new service locations for vets
Hernando County Veteran Service Office has announced two new service locations and hours, starting this week: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays at the Brooksville Enrichment Center, 670 Broad St., and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays at the Spring Hill Enrichment Center, 11375 Cortez Blvd. Call the Veteran Service Office at 754-4033.
