The start of school kicks off programs

The new school year is just around the corner. Here are a few reminders:

- Pasco County schools host Back to School Orientation days on Tuesday for middle and high school students and Wednesday for elementary students. For specific times, call your child's school or check the school newsletter or school Web site.

- The first day of school for Pasco County students is Aug. 20, and so begins another year for "Top of the Class." This weekly feature in the Pasco Times, which highlights the good things going on in local schools, will resume Aug. 22.

- Once again we're looking for submissions from the schools: students of the month, PTA meetings and open houses, scholarship and contest winners, etc. Deadline for submissions is always one week before publication that would be each Wednesday.
