TAMPA - A 44-year-old former professional wrestler was found dead in his bed Monday morning at his New Tampa home.
Police officers found Brian Adams soon after arriving at his house at 4918 Anniston Circle about 11:30 a.m. Adams' wife had called 911 after she realized he wasn't breathing.
Adams' body showed no sign of visible injury, police said. The Hillsborough County medical examiner is investigating the cause of his death.
Adams, who was born in Hawaii, was serving with the U.S. Air Force when someone suggested he become a pro wrestler. He started training and wrestling in Japan and then Portland.
He entered pro wrestling's major leagues in 1990 when he signed a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment. Over the next decade he performed with marquee names like Bret "Hit Man" Hart, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and the Undertaker.
He retired in 2001 for a brief boxing career before returning to wrestling. A spinal injury sidelined him for good in 2003, according to a WWE news release.
"Whether he was beloved or jeered, Adams made a lasting impact on WWE," the realease said.
In another post, fellow wrestler "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan remembered Adams as "one of those guys that never seemed to really get the big break, but had all of the talent and all of the skills to do it."

Steve-it was a joke. The singer spells his name Bryan Adams and he is from Canada not Hawaii. I should of known better than to make a joke on a wrestler story - although I'm sure you attended high school for six years or so.

This news really is a shame but before all of you put the blame on steroids, lets see what the real cause of his death is.Remember the postings about Chris Benoit? His death was NOT due to steroids..as I called it!

Is this really any surprise? A shame? Unfortunate? Yes, to both. But not a surprise.
