Man faces multiple charges in early-summer thefts of golf carts

TAMPA - Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies charged a Valrico man Monday with stealing five golf carts from two Hillsborough County retirement communities in June and July.

Robert Charles Greene, 22, of 1208 Big Pine Drive took two carts, valued at $5,000 and $4,000, from a Sun City Center development along with three carts valued at $12,000, $9,000 and $3,000 from a fenced-in area at a Valrico golf course, said Hillsborough sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter.

Greene faces charges of grand theft, theft from victims 65 or older and burglary from a conveyance. He was held at the Orient Road Jail Monday in lieu of $32,000 bond.
