A survivor: Pasco man reaches out

DADE CITY -- Charles Harrison had one thought Wednesday when he learned a deputy had been shot and killed in Hillsborough County. The family. "I know they're going through a real hard time," said Charles, whose father, Pasco sheriff's Lt. Charles "Bo" Harrison, was gunned down in his patrol car June 1, 2003, outside a rural nightclub. In April, Alfredie Steele Jr. was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Even now, Harrison still doesn't understand his father's death. He suspects Sgt. Ron Harrison's family feels the same. Though the two Harrison families aren't related, Charles said he wouldn't mind sitting down to talk if it would help. "They're probably asking why," he said. "That's still going through my mind, and it's almost been five years."

I still think of your family and pray for you. I have not forgotten you.
