Be amazed at the ingenuity of emerging and established artists at the third annual Wearable Art Fashion Show at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, 1143 Michigan Blvd. The show will feature designs by Blackbird, Carly Champagne, Ben Chmura, Yasmin Fouad, Tia Gugliotta, Deborah Kynes, Katy Long, Rogerio Martins, Aleka Phoenix and Frank Strunk III, who will use a variety of mediums, including fabric, paper and metal to push the envelope in clothing design. Back-to-school celebration: Over 900 backpacks filled with school supplies, including paper, pens and pencils, glue sticks, scissors and more, will be given away free to children in need from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alpha & Omega Learning Center and outreach ministry of Countryside Cathedral Church of God, 2701 Rigsby Lane, Safety Harbor. Found objects: Indulge your interest in art by creating an "objet trouve" sculpture from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art, 12211 Walsingham Road, Largo. The free event will feature entertainment, food and drink, a caricature artist and scavenger hunt. All those becoming Les Fauves members will receive a welcome gift.
