Police and city workers were called in to handle the crowd and a lane of traffic was closed as Paris Hilton unveiled her clothing line at a trendy Los Angeles boutique. Clad in a gold sequined minidress, Hilton, 26, emerged from a black SUV to a throng of fans who spilled into the street at the Kitson boutique on Thursday.
"It's a dream come true to have my own clothing line," Hilton told the Associated Press. "It's just Paris style: fun, bright and flashy." The collection, which Hilton described as "really comfortable" and "really affordable," includes shoes, T-shirts and jeans. Hilton said she spent a year submitting and approving designs. Additional pieces will be released next month, she said.
Waiting for Winehouse
Amy Winehouse has pulled the plug on her August concerts after being hospitalized for "severe exhaustion."
Spokeswoman Tracey Miller said the British singer was putting her touring commitments on hold "in order to address her health issues." "Her family has requested that the media respect Amy's privacy at this time. There will be no further comment," Miller said in a statement reported by the Associated Press.
British newspapers reported this week that Winehouse had checked into - and then out of - a rehab clinic near London. Her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, said the couple had just gone home to pick up a guitar and were going back. "Don't worry, she's being looked after. ... She's determined to get well," he said. Winehouse is scheduled to begin a North American tour next month.
