Blood shortage brings call for folks to donate

COUNTYWIDE LifeSouth Community Blood Center has reported an emergency blood shortage in northern Florida, which includes Hernando County. Some centers have less than a day's supply of blood in reserve. LifeSouth is the sole blood supplier for 35 medical facilities in 17 Florida counties. Area residents who can donate are urged to visit the local LifeSouth center at 12395 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill, or donate at one of the bloodmobile locations. To donate, you must be at least 17, weigh at least 110 pounds and show a valid photo ID. For information or for bloodmobile locations, call 596-2002 or visit the Web site at www.lifesouth.org. BACK TO SCHOOL Bus routes, times are listed online Monday is the first day of school in the Hernando County public school system. School bus routes and pickup times are available online at the School Board Web site: www.hcsb.k12.fl.us/transportation/index.htm. Parents should expect buses to run later than scheduled during the first week of school while administrators and drivers take extra time to ensure that children are on the correct bus. I gave them 2 gallons of blood when I was young, had it to spare and now they want more that I'm old? They should run for the School Board in Dracula Hernando County. They know how to suck you dry.
