Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, is getting a facelift of sorts on its exterior. The project continues exterior upgrades and improvements announced earlier this year. When the project is completed, there will be 24 bats and 24 balls. The balls are approximately 8 feet in diameter. The bats range from 18 feet to 70 feet high, depending on their placement. The new decor is noticeable from I-375. "It's about extending the magic of baseball out into the community to those people driving by on the interstate or passing through downtown. It helps deliver the message, a reminder that this is a major league ballpark and a great source of pride to the Tampa Bay area," said Rich Vaughn, vice president of communication for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
