Create a Suncatcher: Progress Energy Art Gallery and Greater New Port Richey Main Street are hosting a class at 1 p.m. Aug. 26 on the fused glass technique. It will be taught by Michele Palenik of Purple Cloud Studio, a local craft artist, at the Progress Energy Art Gallery, 6231 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey. Palenik's jewelry, bowls, plates and wall hanging are shown in the Progress Energy Art Gallery. For information on Palenik, visit www.purplecloudstudio.com.
Donation for the class is $35 for non-gallery members and $31.50 for gallery members. All materials will be included for creating one suncatcher. Additional materials may be purchased during the class for $20 for non-members and $18 for members.

Cotee River Cleanup: Volunteers will meet at the Sims Park Boat Ramp at 8 a.m. Sept. 15 to receive their cleaning supplies; plus there will be free T-shirts for the first 100 volunteers. The Cotee River Clean-Up is sponsored by the New Port Richey Department of Parks and Recreation, under the direction of Elaine Smith, director. Boats are welcome but not necessary. Volunteers may walk and clean the parks. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers at 11:30 a.m. in Sims Park. All ages and groups are welcome. Preregistration is not required.
