Dixie Hollins fills coaching position
Travis Hill, a former assistant at Clearwater, joins the Rebels as the boys basketball coach.

Published August 22, 2007
Former Clearwater assistant Travis Hill has been named Dixie Hollins boys basketball coach. Hill spent three seasons as a Tornadoes assistant 2001-03, under coach Jack Coit, before serving overseas with the national guard. He has been out of coaching the past couple of years to spend time with his three young children, Coit said, but "everything just fell into place" at Dixie Hollins. Hill, who could not be reached for comment, will teach social studies. "We interviewed some sparkling candidates," Dixie Hollins assistant principal Deb Fabrizio wrote in an e-mail. "But Coach Hill's coaching philosophy and belief in longevity, encouraging multisport athletes, and his strong social studies experience made him a perfect fit for Dixie." Coit said Hill is a great "X-and-O's guy" who "loves to teach the game." Hill takes over for Louis Rowe, who resigned after one season to take an assistant coaching job at his alma mater, James Madison University. This is a great choice! Coach Hill will teach the kids the game of basketball and while building character. In less than 5 years Dixie will be a power house. Congrats!
