Join the team to fill backpacks for kids

The Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin is teaming up with Clothes To Kids to provide backpacks filled with school supplies and a week's supply of school clothes to 100 low-income Pinellas County schoolchildren.
The Junior League says donations of $15 will help a child begin the school year with confidence as he or she enters the classroom.
Checks can be made out to the Junior League and mailed to Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin, 1265 Bayshore Blvd., Dunedin, FL 34698, Attn: Community Outreach-Back To School Fair.

Club seeks help for Taste of Palm Harbor
The GFWC Palm Harbor Junior Women's Club is looking for restaurants, artisans and crafters to participate in its 11th annual Taste of Palm Harbor.
Proceeds from the October event benefit the club's grants and scholarship program.

Paint Your Heart Out seeks homes to paint
Paint Your Heart Out, a group that provides house painting to five neighbors in need, is seeking candidates for houses to paint next spring. Guardians ad litem needed for children
More than 1,000 children in Pinellas County need someone to be their voice in the courtroom, and the county's guardian ad litem program hopes that could be you.
You can learn about becoming a guardian ad litem by attending a one-hour orientation held each week on Thursdays. The time of the orientation is varied to accommodate the schedule of prospective volunteers.
Guardians ad litem speak on behalf of abused, abandoned or neglected children in Pinellas County courts. As a child's advocate, a guardian ad litem becomes familiar with the child and case and makes recommendations to the court to help ensure the child has a safe, caring and stable environment. Guardians ad litem receive training and ongoing supervision to help them make a positive difference in the lives of children.

Join the Walking Club for exercise and fun

Variety of summer exhibits at library
The library is for more than books. The Clearwater Main Library, 100 N Osceola Ave., has a variety of exhibits on display through the summer:
-Self-portraits drawn by Clearwater young people are in the About Face exhibit until Tuesday.
-Collectables and unique beads by Maryann Larson are in the Awesome Bead Hats exhibit until Tuesday.

'We fix It' program seeks volunteers
Can you fix stuff? The Hale Activity Center is seeking adults 50 and older to join the 20-year-old "We fix It" referral program which pairs seniors in need of odd jobs with handy helpers. Experienced workers are needed in a variety of tasks including, light carpentry and electric work.
Volunteers also are needed to help staff the center's gift shopt during normal business hours.Volunteer shifts would be for three hours once a week Monday through Friday.

Brooker educational center needs help
Looking to help out? Friendly, outgoing volunteers are needed at the Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center as exhibit hall docents and summer camp assistants. Call 453-6800.
