AMVETS Auxiliary yard sales benefit homeless project

The Ladies Auxiliary of AMVETS Post 44 is raising money to fill knapsacks for homeless veterans.

The auxiliary will hold yard sales on Sept. 1 and Sept. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the post, 318 Pauls Drive, to help fund the cause.

The auxiliary is also collecting items such as eyeglasses, cell phones, ink cartridges, can tabs, manufacturers' coupons from the Sunday paper, and Campbell's soup labels. These items can be dropped off at the lodge from 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays or 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Cash donations are also accepted and may be sent to the lodge or dropped off at the yard sales. Call 813 651-4444 or (813) 690-2693.

Tickets on sale for 'Bunco for the Arts'

Tickets are on sale now for ladies' night "Bunco for the Arts" on Sept. 27 at Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Drive. Tickets are $20 per person. Proceeds go to children's programs.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday for the Stages Productions presentation of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer on Oct. 12 and Nov. 2 at the center. Tickets are $6 per person.

East Bay High class plans 50th reunion

The first-ever graduating class from East Bay High School will gather in November for a 50th reunion. The cost is $7.

Festivities kick off with a social hour Nov. 9 in the school cafeteria with a football game afterward at the school. The next day features a barbecue at Lupton's Boggy Bottom Ranch with food, cash bar and dancing. The cost is $20 per person.

Alumni and friends can attend one or both events.

Exhibitors needed for seafood festival

Applications are being accepted for craft exhibitors for the annual Ruskin Seafood Festival.

This year's event will be Nov. 3 and Nov. 4. Download an application at www.ruskin seafoodfestival.org or call the Ruskin Chamber of Commerce at 645-3808 for information. Application deadline is Sept. 14.
