Bowl-a-thon kickoff lunch set wednesday

SPRING HILL
A kickoff luncheon for the Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mariner Lanes, 3544 Mariner Blvd. Participants will receive a complimentary lunch and be able to pick up materials for the bowling event, which will be Oct. 20. To attend, RSVP to Jon Epps toll-free at 1-800-481-7599, ext. 32. Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization that introduces grade school students to business concepts and careers. Fur Ball needs items, sponsors
Sponsorships and donations of auction items are needed for the Humane Society of the Nature Coast's fourth annual Fur Ball, set for Sept. 29 at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court. It will include a cocktail hour and cash bar, buffet dinner, dessert, silent auction and music for dancing. Tickets are $75 per person. Proceeds will benefit pets at the local Humane Society. Rotary taking wreath orders
The Rotary Club of Spring Hill is taking orders through Nov. 15 for its holiday wreath fundraiser. The wreaths are a 22-inch round mix of noble fir, incense cedar and berried juniper, decorated with a plaid bow and natural pinecones. Orders can be shipped anywhere in the continental United States with a gift message. The wreaths are $35 each and include shipping. They will be delivered the first week of December. AAA offers special notary services
AAA is offering free back-to-school notary services for parents through Sept. 30. In Hernando County, the AAA office is at 1410 Pinehurst Drive in Spring Hill. Membership in AAA is not required. Parents can bring in documentation for sports, functions, field trip permission slips and other school-related documents. Call 683-3446.

Festival Singers begin rehearsals
The Nature Coast Festival Singers will begin rehearsals today at Nativity Lutheran Church, 6363 Commercial Way, for the group's Christmas concerts. Rehearsals are at 7 p.m. Mondays except Labor Day. New singers are welcome until the third rehearsal, on Sept. 17. The concerts will be at 3 p.m. Nov. 25 at Nativity Lutheran Church; 7 p.m. Nov. 26 at Wesleyan Village Church in Brooksville, and 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Hudson.
