Foods can worsen allergic reactions

For some people allergic to the seasonal airborne pollen proteins of trees, grass and weeds, symptoms worsen after eating some fresh fruits and vegetables, including banana, cucumber, melon and sunflower seeds. These people have oral allergy syndrome, also called pollen-food syndrome, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Cooking the foods will frequently reduce or eliminate the reaction.
