At halftime at St. Petersburg High School's first home football game Sept. 7, the Green Devil Fund will present a check for $9,000 to the athletic department for new lockers in the school's field house. The school's athletic boosters will match the donation.

"This is a great opportunity for students and alumni to see their dollars at work in special projects on the area's oldest high school," said Green Devil Fund president Sally Baynard. "We are excited to work closely with principal Al Bennett in identifying other ways to help students, teachers and the campus."

Bennett recognized the need when he took over the reins at his alma mater last year. "The field house is a cherished part of an athlete's experience here at SPHS," he said.

The Green Devil Fund promotes student success and academic achievement through community donations in cooperation with the Pinellas Education Foundation. These funds are earmarked for campus beautification, teacher grants and matching funds for Band and Athletic Boosters.
