Agency seeks mentors for children

Big Brothers Big Sisters School/Site-Based Program invites high school and community college students to volunteer as mentors to help children with homework, play games, read books and participate in outdoor activities. Volunteers from Hernando High School, Pasco Hernando Community College and the surrounding area are particularly needed to mentor Brooksville Elementary students. High school and college students can earn volunteer hours required for many program and scholarship applications. For information, call 684-7904.

Westside Elementary

Meeting will show curriculum plans

Westside Elementary School will have its annual Title I Curriculum Nights at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 for parents and guardians of children in kindergarten through second grade and Sept. 13 for parents and guardians of third- through fifth-grade parents and guardians. Meet teachers and staff members for an academic overview of what children will be learning thisyear. Students are welcome but are not required to attend.

Advisory council meeting is today

The school will hold its first School Advisory Council meeting at 3:34 p.m. today in the Media Center. Dates for meetings throughout the year will be set at this meeting.

Spring Hill Elementary

Resource night is set for Sept. 27

The school will have its first Hernando County Resource Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27 in the cafeteria.
