Vasquez prepared to fight charges
Former Hernando boys basketball coach Antonio "Tony" Vasquez appears set to fight a misdemeanor charge of exposure of sexual organs that prosecutors filed against him. Vasquez, a former Pasco girls basketball coach and a Hernando alum who was hired in May as coach, was arrested on suspicion of exposing himself to an undercover police officer July 24 at McKethan Park. He then resigned. Vasquez, who declined to comment through his attorney, has pleaded not guilty. "He maintains his innocence," attorney Larry Disparti said, "and is adamant about it."
At Pasco, theycall him 'Target'
Pasco coach Tom McHugh points to Josh Johnson's chest. He draws a big imaginary circle with his finger and pokes a dot in the center. He does the same on the back of his jersey. "That's the target," McHugh said. "We call him 'Target.'" McHugh wants Johnson to know every opponent is focusing on the highly hyped junior and will focus on shutting him down. He wants Johnson to know every word written about him is hanging in opposing locker rooms as inspiration to stop him. "I kind of like it," Johnson said. "They call me 'Target,' so I guess I'm a target."
