For the Barons, this could be the year of the backup. ¶ Gone are graduated stalwarts RB Jock Sanders, WR Andrew Harris, OL Elvis Fisher and QB David Girardi, as well as several key defensive starters. ¶ But first-year coach Tod Creneti said he has been impressed with their understudies, pledging the cupboard is far from bare. ¶ There's RB/LB A.J. Butler, a Division I prospect, and explosive RB Courtney Feazell. But the key to the season may fall on the right arm of senior quarterback Kevin Tapp. ¶ Creneti, a former Georgetown quarterbacks coach, plans to throw it 25-30 times per game, players say. So even if the Barons are banned from the postseason (due to FHSAA violations), they'll make things exciting. ¶ "Last year, everyone knew who 'the man,' was," Creneti said. "Now, we've got some guys who've been waiting for their chance. And that time is now."
The first-year starter has waited for his chance. Now he'll be depended on more than ever in an offense that could pass 25-30 times per game.e_SClBWhat's in your iPod?
Rap and R&B mostly. Stuff like Lil Wayne. Maybe some old-school R&B like Boyz II Men, too.
Do you go on MySpace?
I have a page; my girlfriend made it for me. But I don't go on it much, maybe to check my messages. Most of the guys on the team do. Everyone in high school has it nowadays.
What's your go-to meal?
I love pizza. I like fish and anything Italian.
What's your ideal post-college job?
It'll be something in business, probably accounting. It's in my family. My dad's an accountant, so is my sister.
So you wouldn't describe yourself as a technology buff?
Well, I've got an iPod and I do have a PlayStation portable. So I'm not totally out of the loop.
