Times' Top 10

Times' preseason top 10
1. Armwood: We're not sure if this is the Hawks' best team ever, but it's good enough to contend for another state title.
2. Plant: Defending state champs' mantra in 2006: "One heartbeat." Suggested cardiovascular slogan for '07: "Pulse has hardly diminished."
3. Chamberlain: The Chiefs, brimming with fleetness and athleticism, could be this year's Plant.
4. Jefferson: Dragons are high on new QB Zack Grossi but are 0-4 the past two years vs. Armwood and Plant.
5. Riverview: If Sharks can muster a respectable passing game to complement tailback Jahleel Addae, they'll make the Class 6A playoffs.
6. Gaither: Cowboys have started great but finished miserably the past two years. Can standout TB Jarvis Giles help change that?
7. Hillsborough: Terriers ultimately could crack our top five if offense shows signs of life.
8. Jesuit: Newfound offensive balance should reinvigorate Tigers, who haven't exactly dazzled us in recent years.
9. Durant: The Cougars, who humiliated Plant City in the spring jamboree, return 14 starters.
10. Middleton: Tigers might be ranked higher if not for a schedule that could be the county's toughest.
