Editor's note: The following is a recap of the week's news events , in the words of the newsmakers.
"All three of them, in my opinion, showed no remorse. It's amazing how a (young) kid can sit there with a blank look on his face when he's getting sentenced to 25 years in prison."
Assistant State Attorney Aaron Slavin, after Circuit Judge William Webb sentenced members of a West Pasco gang.
"I don't see any conflict, but every-body wants to make an issue of no issue."
Port Richey Council member Dale Massad, who had to abstain from voting to appoint attorney James Mathieu as interim city manager. The two men are partners in a real estate deal.
"Again, Steve Spina has done an exceptional job at keeping Zephyrhills in superior fiscal shape, given the budget cut circumstances as of late."
Zephyrhills Council member Danny Burgess during the evaluation of the city manager, who after 12 years plans to step down in the spring.
"How could you steal from a cocker spaniel?"
Doug Tobin, spokesman for the Pasco Sheriff's Office, after the treasurer of the American Spaniel Club Inc. was charged with embezzling more than $100,000.
"A lot of people say to me, 'Well you're from New York, why don't you support (former New York City Mayor Rudy) Giuliani?' Um, let me put it this way: I know Giuliani. I'm supporting Mitt Romney."
U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Brooksville.
"Seems to me somebody either doesn't like New Yorkers or they just don't like the New York Yankees."
Fred Slavin, a Port Richey resident moving back to New York after somebody stole his Yankees vanity plate and burned his Yankees flag.
"Groundhog Day."
Dade City Mayor Hutch Brock after a third candidate for city manager backed out of the running. Brock was referring, of course, to the classic movie starring Bill Murray in which he wakes up every morning to the same day.
"You're messing around in an area that you know nothing about."
Sheriff Bob White to county commissioners working to reduce his budget request.
