The Mitchell boys golf team didn't play great, but it did play well enough to win.
Thanks to a 15-foot par putt on the final hole by Isaac Schaefer, the Mustangs escaped with a 166-167 win Tuesday over River Ridge at Seven Springs.
Junior Kenny Cavender fired 3-over 39 and three other Mustang players shot 43 or lower as Mitchell improved to 3-0. Schaefer, a freshman, shot 41, Chaz Heinz added 43 and Andrew Steiner had 43.
"Both teams played okay, but I don't think either team played up to their potential," Mitchell coach Rick Hyatt said. "We were lucky to get out of it with a win."
River Ridge was led by Kiel Jackson, who shot 38.
Land O'Lakes 160, Sunlake 194
At Plantation Palms, Wes Parrish led the Gators with 1-under 35 and Josh Barnett added 38. Parrish made birdie at the par-4 second and the par-5 ninth, but despite his solid score his round could have been better.
"His swing was just a little off," Land O'Lakes coach Tom Clark said. "He wasn't making solid contact, but he grinds well and made a few putts when he needed to."
Parrish has a 37 average.
The Gators are 3-0.
Wiregrass Ranch 176, Gulf 202
At Pebble Creek, freshman Dylan Larson shot a match-best 4-over 39 to lead the Bulls past Gulf. Larson made birdie on the par-4 third.
Ronnie Segal, playing in the sixth spot, shot 41.

At Heritage Springs, Sarah Yarbrough fired 6-over 41 to lead the Mustangs to their 71st straight Sunshine Athletic Conference win. The senior carded one birdie and four pars during her round.
Leeann Epting added a career-best 53, which included birdie.
Wesley Chapel 164, Zephyrhills 196
At Hidden Creek, T.J. Adipietro shot 1-over 32 to lead the Wildcats to the victory. Adipietro, a senior, made birdies on the par-3 first and par-4 ninth. She added four pars.
Teammate Samantha Friese shot 35.
Land O'Lakes 205, Sunlake (no score)
At The Grove, Allison Howard shot 12-over 45 to pace the Gators. Kasey Ellis added 49.
Land O'Lakes is 3-0.
VOLLEYBALL
Zephyrhills d. Springstead 22-25, 25-18, 25-11, 25-22
Zephyrhills topped the Eagles behind the solid play of Kristen Arnold (eight blocks, 10 kills), Jessica Davis (six kills, nine aces) and Lindsay Arnold (five blocks, 10 assists).
"Honestly, I think we just all decided to take the night off," Zephyrhills coach Tiffany Bibby said. "They were all out of whack, but they picked it up in the second game and ran with it."
