Carnival Cruise Lines adds 'Serenity' for grown-ups
Parents can relax without the kids for a while.

Grown-ups need their own space, too. Apparently, even while they're vacationing on the Fun Ships. Carnival Cruise Lines has taken its Tampa-based ship Inspiration out of service for a monthlong renovation. When it resumes Caribbean cruises Oct. 4, the ship will have Carnival's first adults-only section, called "Serenity." The area, where the kiddie pool used to be, will be equipped with chaise lounges, two whirlpools and, naturally, full bar service. For youngsters, the makeover includes new 300-foot corkscrew water slides, double-lane racing slides and water spray equipment (ideally far from where the grown-ups are chilling out). The new features will be on all eight of Carnival's "Fantasy-class" ships by 2009.
