More than 25 individuals successfully completed a two-part training class in August and will now serve as Hernando-Pasco Hospice volunteers for the nonprofit agency's north, central and south Pasco teams. Hospice volunteers support the agency's mission of providing care, comfort and support to patients and families affected by a life-limiting illness regardless of their ability to pay. Another training for those interested in becoming hospice volunteers will take place Sept. 11 and 13 in New Port Richey. A support group meeting of the West Pasco Fibromyalgia Association was held last week at the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. The National Fibromyalgia Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and execute programs dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with fibromyalgia by increasing the awareness of the public, media, government and medical communities. The association publishes a quarterly magazine, Fibromyalgia AWARE. Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder characterized by widespread muscle and skeletal aches, stiffness, fatigue and sleep disturbances.
