TAMPA - A man shot in the head while leaving a Tampa nightclub early Sunday died Monday, St. Joseph's Hospital said.
Broderick Jermey Buchanan, 20, of 3902 E Yukon St., Apt. A, died Monday afternoon at the hospital, said hospital spokesman Will Darnall.
Police are now searching for a man who shot Buchanan early Sunday while he was leaving Club Underground, riding in the bed of a 2004 white Ford pickup truck at 3:18 a.m.
Buchanan and several friends were riding in the truck. They were stopped at a red light near N Jefferson Street and E Scott Street, when a white Pontiac Grand Prix pulled up next to the truck, police say.
A man leaned out the passenger side window of the Pontiac and fired a handgun.
Buchanan was struck in the head, police say, and the Pontiac headed north on Interstate 275.
Police were still searching for a motive by Monday evening.
The shooter is described as a black man in his late teens to early 20s, about 5 feet 9, with short dreadlocks and a medium to slender build, police say. He wore a black tank top.
In jail records from an arrest, Buchanan is listed as a warehouse worker for a company call SIG Logistics.
Attempts to reach his family were unsuccessful.
Anyone with information was asked to contact detectives at 813-231-6130.
