Blast to face makes robber hard to ID

PORT RICHEY -- Dead bank robber's identity hard to confirm

The identity of the bank robber who shot himself outside Dillard's department store Friday remained uncertain on Monday, partly for this reason: the blast from the sawed-off shotgun disfigured his face.

The Sheriff's Office said that about 3 p.m. Friday, a white man, perhaps in his 40s, walked into the Colonial Bank at 9431 U.S. 19, handed the teller a note and took off with an undisclosed sum. He was riding a bicycle toward the Gulf View Square mall, dropping money as he went. As a driver chased him down, he fell off his bicycle. He took out the shotgun and fired into the air, according to the Sheriff's Office. "Bye," he said, and fired again.

Aliando, he shot at the Nissan that attempted to stop him. Not hurt anyone? the gun took his head off, so what was he trying to do to those 2 people? He was obviously not playing with them.

No need to steal. Go to day labor, they're there for people like him with nothing who need to get paid to live through another day! I feel sorry for the homeless but there is and ALWAYS will be an alternative way for them to change everything!!

Aliando all I can say is HUH??? What the heck are you talking about? He was an idiot there are jobs if you want one. May not be the best but a paycheck is a paycheck. Why Steal. At least he did everyone a favor before he hurt anyone else. Dont steal!

This story differs from the "breaking news alert" that the times posted right after it happened. Has anyone checked the surveillance tape from the bank since he was successful in the robbery.

he didnt want to hurt anyone did he just himself,strange he must have had a dui or two and could not get to work ,shame what the county has done to the lives of others without any remorse, out of dire desperation he must of went for it all. he did,.
