Patchan sits
Armwood two-way lineman Matt Patchan, ejected against Plant two weeks ago, will serve a one-game suspension and miss Friday night's game with Brandon.
Plant's Queen out for the season
Versatile Plant sophomore DeAndre Queen, a Panthers tailback and the top backup to quarterback Aaron Murray, will miss the rest of the season after tearing his right ACL in Friday's 48-21 win over Gaither. Plant coach Bob Weiner said senior tailback Lovell Jackson is expected back for Friday's game at Middleton, as is RB/CB/WR James Harrell III (ankle).
X-country corner
The season's first big local meets are today, with central, west and east Hillsborough County teams competing at select sites at 6 p.m. Many area runners were tested Friday at the UF Invitational in Gainesville, with Wharton senior Katrina Skinner (14th, 20:12) the county's top finisher. Skinner was followed by the Berkeley Prep duo of Page Price (27th, 20:45) and Olivia D'Angelo (28th, 20:50). The top county finisher in the boys race was Berkeley Prep's Richard Blake (17th, 16:57). He was followed by Chamberlain sophomore Mark Parrish (20th, 16:59), Wharton's John Grellner (21st, 17:00) and Plant sophomore Trenor Wilkins (23rd, 17:03).
Heavy hitters
With the Berkeley Prep-Tampa Prep volleyball series, (arguably the area's best rivalry) resuming at 6:30 tonight at Tampa Prep, here are some numbers to chew on:
27 total state titles won (15 for Tampa Prep, 12 for Berkeley).
11 victories needed by Berkeley coach Randy Dagostino to reach 700 for his 24-year career.
4 place that Berkeley finished in last weekend's prestigious P.K. Yonge Invitational. The Bucs won three of five matches, advancing from their pool. The Terps finished 1-4 in the same event.
Injury update
Plant City running backs Keith Dawson ankle and Sirchauncey Holloway (shoulder) are listed as questionable for Friday's game against Riverview.
Numbers game
11 passes attempted by the Hillsborough football team through two games. The Terriers have completed five.
Alumni tracker

Defensive back Aaron Moore (Jefferson) had 6.5 tackles and one pass breakup for San Diego State in a loss to Washington State.
