Family event promises looks at moon, planets

ST. PETERSBURG

The Science Center of Pinellas County, 7701 22nd Ave. N, will hold a Family Astronomy Night from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sept. 22. The center's Meade Telescope will be available to children and adults to view the moon, while smaller telescopes will be set up to view Neptune, Jupiter and Uranus as well. The 16-inch telescope, operated by the St. Petersburg Astronomy Club, is the only research grade telescope in Pinellas County available in a non-university setting. Mayor recognizes schools, sponsors

Mayor Rick Baker honored city schools and their corporate sponsors at the annual "Top Apple Awards" ceremony Sept. 4 as part of the Mayor's Mentors & More program. Schools and corporations recognized were:
