Area golfers share their thoughts on different topics.
This week's question:
What driver works for you right now?
"I've been using Callaway for a year. It feels good, and if I hit it well, it will go straight."
Tom Scherer, Wesley Chapel
Scherer, who has an 18 handicap, golfs once a week with his wife, Ona.
"I buy cheap, and I buy often."
Ona Scherer, Wesley Chapel
The lefty laughed that she has trouble finding a good driver, but no problem shopping.
"I'm using an Affinity Cube. It's a knockoff of the Nike Square. My friends up North call it a transistor radio on the end of a club."
Joe Perno, Wesley Chapel
He added that the club has helped ease his pronounced slice.
"I've got a Nancy Lopez. It's light, and it's big. It's a 450cc so it has a lot of area to hit the ball squarely."
Maria Perno, Wesley Chapel
The Pernos, who spend some of the year living in New Jersey, have been married 38 years and golf three times a week at area golf courses.
Fast foursome: The Scherers met the Pernos during the winter when they were golfing at the Links of Lake Bernadette. The duos just happened to be matched up one day on the course, but they became friends and golfing buddies. Last Thursday, the foursome met up at Plantation Palms Golf Club.
