My home country
We sat down with Hernando junior Tanvi Patel, who, between golf strokes, is preparing for life after high school. Patel already is taking college courses. This summer, she returned to her home country of India for a month to prepare for the SAT.
How is life in India different from life in America?
The atmosphere is really different. The dress code is strict. They'll hit you there. I got paddled a few times.
For what?
Talking during class.
What's one type of Indian food your mother cooks?
Dokri. It's like dough mixed with gravy and cooked with beans.
Is Indian society a lot different from American?
The kids there are really different. They don't wear short clothes and tank tops. If you are at a store and you can't pay, you say, "I'll pay later." Everyone knows everyone.

Central at Lecanto, volleyball, 7:30 p.m.
The Bears lost to the Panthers to open their season. Now they get a chance at revenge. Lecanto features a talented squad that includes outside hitter Raina Johnson. Central has a young but improving team that would like to get a little momentum before starting the second half of district play.
