POMPANO BEACH
Detectives are investigating a truck's fatal crash into a Pompano Beach house.
A man in a converted garage at the house was killed when the pickup slammed into it about 4:30 a.m. Authorities say the victim was sleeping at the time.
The Broward County Sheriff's Office says after hitting the house, Mark Whitney Taylor fled, struck another vehicle up the street, and then hit a mailbox before parking near his own home. Taylor was later arrested.

FAU ranks No. 22 on safe sex list
How's this for a ranking that administrators aren't quite sure what to do with? The Palm Beach Post reports that condom maker Trojan has ranked Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton No. 22 in the nation and tops in Florida for condom and contraceptive availability and other safe sex measures.
The company's "sexual health report card" graded schools on contraceptive availability, student health center hours, anonymous advice availability and HIV testing. The University of Florida ranked 43rd out of 138 schools and Florida State University came in at 71st.

Tip on stolen tips will yield 5 years of treats
The owner of a Ben & Jerry's ice cream store has a sweet reward for anyone who can give detectives the scoop on who stole from his tip jar.
He is offering five years' worth of free ice cream for information leading to the arrest of a man who took $160 in tips. That's one free scoop of ice cream every week - cone or cup. The theft happened about 5:30 p.m. Sept. 2 and was captured by security cameras, but detectives say any leads in the case have melted away.
"It's pretty despicable that someone would steal tip money from teenagers," said Matt Solomon, the owner. "These kids work hard behind this counter."
