Annual cookout needs sponsors and donations

The Arc Nature Coast is seeking sponsors and donations for the annual campout at Lakewood Retreat, which will be Oct. 17-19. All sponsors will have their company/organization name printed on the T-shirts that will be distributed to campers, volunteers and staff (about 100 T-shirts). Sponsors are needed for a variety of activities. The deadline for sponsors is Oct. 1. Call Nancy at 544-2322, ext. 109.

Coalition names top contenders
The Pasco Hernando Early Learning Coalition Wednesday named its top two candidates for the executive director's job. Richard Aubry Jr., a consultant with the Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota, and James J. Farrelly, a New Jersey school administrator who works as director of a nonprofit guardianship agency, were chosen as front-runners from among seven candidates. Coalition officials spent the day interviewing each candidate, all of whom also had to take a written test.

Free notary service for back to school
AAA is offering free back-to-school notary services for parents through Sept. 30. In Hernando County, the AAA office is at 1410 Pinehurst Drive in Spring Hill. AAA membership is not required. Parents can bring in documentation for sports, functions, field trip permission slips and other school-related papers. Call 683-3446.
