It was tight. And it was exhausting.
But for the Bloomingdale volleyball team, taking nearly two hours to earn a victory was worth it.
In a back-and-forth match Wednesday, the Bulls overcame a one-game deficit and the loss of a key starter to injury to defeat Freedom 25-13, 21-25, 22-25, 25-17, 15-12.
"They really pulled together and came from behind to finish out the match," Bloomingdale coach Bonnie Hess said.
The Bulls improved to 3-1.
Bloomingdale was led by middle hitter Caitlin Barsuimian (10 kills), outside hitter Brandi Kines (five kills before leaving in the third game with an injury), libero Liz Morley (23 digs) and outside hitter Amy Hoban (10 service points and three aces), who was solid in a reserve role.
Kines' injury is not thought to be serious.
