Land O'Lakes won. But Hudson came away proud.
And thus, it was a nice day for the swimming programs at both schools.
In a dual meet Wednesday, the Gator girls defeated Hudson 101-89 while the boys won 136-43.
Curt Hilgenberg and Stephanie Allen led Land O'Lakes.
Hudson had strong performances in defeat.
Christopher Pearce was the Cobras' top swimmer, winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.28) and 500 free (5:34.78). The Hudson girls received a nice effort from Abigail Campbell, who was a close second to Allen in the 100 fly.
"This is the first time (the girls squad) has gotten this close (to Land O'Lakes)," Hudson coach Julie Heise said. "It was a tremendous effort by all the girls."

Colin Callahan of Mitchell also swam well.
The junior won the 200 free (2:18.04) and 500 free (6:43.96).
